Through these series of workshops, I have a better understanding in identifying the Genius Loci, key character and essence of Machap Baru which is our site. I also get to extract the tangible and intangible elements of the site history and cultural history through different methods. It also helps me to produce a meaningful site plan with site context. Moreover, I also learnt on how to integrate basic structural concept or system by applying structural system to the design concept. Lastly, I have a much better understanding of the environmental aspects of the site to create the design strategy for the building concept. The appropriate way to apply passive design strategies to design concept while producing climatic response diagrams were also taught through these workshops.
