This module is designed to introduce us to the fundamental aspects of construction technology and associated materials applied to low and medium rise buildings. It include design forms, site evaluation and methods of construction, building services and topics related to building degradation. Contemporary topics of sustainability and green issues will be developed in relationship to the selection and use of materials, building legislation and health, safety and welfare issues.

Application of Architectural and Structural materials
This assignment help me increase my knowledges on the building materials that are widely chosen when it comes to building design such as the reasoning of the choice of materials used on buildings along with their characters, properties and the influence on the building design. For this assignment, we are to conduct a case study based on a building which was designed from one of the listed architects on the topic of building materials applications as architectural and structural features together with its relation to the design concept of the chosen buildings.

This assignment is designed to allow us to apply our knowledge and a deeper understanding on the building construction through series of drawings. This assignment emphasis more on the detailing on different building elements. Through this assignment, we should be able to identify the importance of the construction technical details and building design.

Reflection
With completing this module, I was able to understand more about the built environment and that building material signifies structural existence. It demonstrates the presence of aesthetic sense in a design, and hence, defines the practicability of the structure. The building material affects the vision of a structure, as it deals with the appearance-related qualities of the structure. It also impacts the durability of the structure.

From this module, I get to know that building materials does not only determined the type and form of structure but also help to establish a relationship between visual quality and structural stability. It also provides a unique character and visual appeal to the structure. Building material not only decipher the time and era of construction of a building but also trace the evolution of the art of construction.

It was quite challenging for me to differentiate all the functions and usage of each building materials and also the construction methods, those confuses me as I have no knowledge about them. I was passionate about getting good grades which makes me strive to complete the weekly task within the given time.
Luckily, under the guidance of Dr. Sujatavani, I was able to learn quickly. I noticed that she pays more attention to small details which makes my work even better. She also put lots of efforts by updating us with helpful information which nourishes our works. I am really grateful to have her as my tutor as she is very smart and caring.

Lastly, I will carry forward the knowledge that I possessed from this module and learn from my mistakes that I have made and not defend them.
